I read Pat Kemp's My Turn on Juneau road access versus the current and projected ferry system. I believe his figures and professional analysis to be right on the money.
Sen. Kim Elton's jibber-jabber about lamp poles and percentages made no sense whatsoever to me. I'm sure there must be other Juneau residents who are confused as I am about those statements.
For quite some time, all the articles on holding legislative sessions somewhere else within the state have keyed on being within the road net, which Juneau is not part of. If Elton is reading the same articles, the lamp light should be coming on.
Instead of leaning against the lamp pole, Elton should be doing everything within his power to get Juneau in the road net. Our fellow Alaskans have spoken. We should pay attention, as should Elton.
Kemp is a lifelong Alaskan with a degree in engineering. He has no reason to mislead Juneau residents. I believe Juneau is very fortunate to have someone who has grown up here making decisions that will make Juneau a better place to live.
If the capital leaves Juneau, I will be one who holds Elton directly responsible.
