ANCHORAGE - A 56-year-old Ninilchik man was injured when his pickup truck plowed through 80 feet of guardrail on the Glenn Highway and then rolled, Alaska State Troopers said.

Marcus Smith was driving south in a pickup truck with a trailer at about 4:25 a.m. Saturday at Mile 102.

The trailer carried two boats.

Smith lost control and drove through the guardrail, then left the roadway and rolled twice, coming to rest about 100 feet away, troopers said.

Medics from Victory, Palmer and Sutton responded and stabilized Smith. He was airlifted to an Anchorage hospital with back and neck injuries.

The truck, boats and trailer were estimated to be a total loss.
