KETCHIKAN - Johanna Soderlund of Fairbanks was named Alaska Junior Miss.
She won the program held Saturday at Ketchikan High School. Caitlyn Lewis of Ketchikan was first runner-up.
Ten high school students vied to become the state's representative. In addition to cash scholarships, participants were eligible for scholarships from about 200 participating universities.
The annual pageant has been hosted by Soldotna for the past 40 years. This is the first year it took place in Ketchikan.
Last year's Alaska Junior Miss was Ketchikan's Aimee McClory. Her father, Bob McClory, is this year's Alaska Junior Miss coordinator.
