FAIRBANKS — The U.S. attorney’s office in Alaska says a former Fort Wainwright soldier has been sentenced to nearly 12 years in prison for possessing and distributing child pornography, including images of violent abuse and of infants and toddlers.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports that 22-year-old Joseph Brannock pleaded guilty and was sentenced last week.
The U.S. attorney’s office said he surreptitiously used a neighbor’s open wireless network to get the images and made an offer to an undercover FBI agent to trade material.
He was indicted in July and discharged from the U.S. Army in October.
