Special warning not needed about wolf

Letter to the editor

I find it hard to understand how someone who has observed a wolf in the Mendenhall area in recent months could then blame the loss of his dog on officials for not "posting" the area. If you insist upon letting your pet run free in such circumstances, you have to accept the consequences and not immediately demand the wolf be destroyed. Although wolves have been known to appear to "play" with dogs, once the dog disappears into the underbrush, the play usually becomes deadly serious.
