Former Juneau resident Darrell W. "Skip" Burnett, 68, died March 14, 2007, in Derry, N.H. He was 68.

He was born Jan. 27, 1939, in Spokane, Wash., to Gordon and Patricia (Morehouse) Burnett. He lived and went to school in Auke Bay from 1947 to 1956. He later returned to Juneau after serving in the U.S. Navy and worked for KINY radio and KJNO for several years before leaving to work for Raytheon in Saudi Arabia and Iran.
In 1979, Raytheon returned the family to the states where they settled in Derry. He retired from Raytheon in 2000 after 34 years with the company.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Debra Burnett; sons, Phillip and Mark Burnett, of Derry; Paul Burnett, of London, England; daughter, Heidi Gonzales, of Huntington Beach, Calif.; sisters, Bobbie Girardin, of Denver, and Susan Nix; brother, Barry Burnette, of Juneau; two grandchildren, Ryann and Stefan, of Derry; stepmother, Helen (Burnett) Smith, of Juneau; stepbrother, Thomas Lynch, of Chelan, Wash.; and stepsister, Bonnie Jo Davison, of Port Angeles, Wash.
His wishes were to be cremated and returned to Auke Bay where a family memorial will be held at a later date.
