"Isn't it great to be alive?!" That's what my priest exclaimed on Easter Sunday. We all just looked at him at first, but after he repeated himself a few times, I realized, it truly is great to be alive! Yes, yes, of course I always knew it. We all do, but we don't always feel that way, do we? It's good sometimes to acknowledge things - positive things - things we may sometimes forget.
Ring ring ring! It's spring! Yes, corny, I know, but spring has sprung, people! It's time to get out of your funks. I know it'll be a little harder for some of you than for others, but now's the time. The time for renewal. Maybe even a little rejuvenation. What needs rejuvenating in your life? Relationships with your parents, kids, significant others? The list can go on and on.
Maybe it's just me or my age, but it seems as if all my friends are getting engaged, married, or having babies. New life, man. It's a crazy, beautiful thing. Do I ask myself "What's wrong with me? Am I running behind everyone else? Is it all passing me by?" Nope. Not yet, anyways. Sometimes, I admit, I wonder what's wrong with me because I don't crave those things just yet. I'm so not maternal. People are going to look at me funny when I finally do have a kid and want to work the next week. Maybe that'll change. I mean, I do have a puppy, now. He's my baby!
On the other end of the spectrum, another good friend has ended a relationship. It's a good thing, though. Sure, bittersweet for her because there is love lost, but at the same time she knows that it's for the best. It's proof that losing a relationship isn't always a bad thing. For those of you who have also ended relationships recently or maybe even not so recently, you'll understand exactly what I mean when I say that everything happens for a reason.
There are highs and lows in this life. We all go through our ups and downs. Easter and spring are great reminders of how we and the earth can both be renewed - given new life.
Whether we're in relationships or not, whether we have lots or have not, let's keep in mind that it's a new year, it's now a new season, and instead of taking two steps back and wallowing in what could have been, be reminded of what is - and be glad. Move forward, positively. If it's time in your life for a change, make it happen. All for the better.
