ANCHORAGE - An internal investigation has cleared two Alaska State Troopers involved in a fatal shooting in Wasilla last month.
The officers shot and killed 38-year-old Debra L. Torrey of Wasilla on Feb. 3 after she refused to drop a gun when told to at a medical clinic. Authorities said she made threatening statements and motions at the medical facility at mile 8 of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway.
Torrey died at the scene after troopers fired their weapons.
The Office of Special Prosecutions and Appeals determined the two troopers, Alfred "Skip" Chadwell and Kevin S. Blanchette, acted within the law.
