Yakutat, Klawock stay alive in C Bracket

Jim Bremmer scored 26 points Monday as Yakutat ANS stayed alive in the Legendary C Bracket of the 2000 Gold Medal Basketball Tournament.

Bremmer hit five 3-pointers in the game, as Yakutat beat Hydaburg Haidas 103-81 at Juneau-Douglas High School. Yakutat plays again at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday against the loser of tonight's 5:30 p.m. Hoonah Old-Timers vs. Klukwan Chilkats. The Hydaburg Haidas are already eliminated from the tournament.

Mott Wheeler scored 25 points for Yakutat, while Jon Jensen added 24 points and Greg Volle added 11.

David Edenshaw scored 23 points to lead Hydaburg. Chris Sumdum added 22 points, with six 3-pointers, and Alvin Edenshaw scored 10. The Haidas hit 14 3-pointers, while Yakutat nailed nine treys.

Klawock 84, Juneau 69

Larry Hudson scored 25 points as the Klawock Old-Timers beat Juneau-First National Bank to stay alive in the Legendary C Bracket.

Klawock will play next at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday against the loser of tonight's 8:30 p.m. game between Kake ANB and Angoon ANS. Juneau, which led 39-36 at halftime, was eliminated with the loss.

John Garvey scored 22 points for the Old-Timers, while Mark Heard added 11 and Sam Thomas scored 10 for Klawock.

Jerry Mackie scored 19 points to lead Juneau, while Brett Schmiege added 14 and three players scored eight apiece.
