... for planetarium support
Our last shows of the season are April 3 and 4.
New volunteers are always welcome to join us, as we complete this season and plan for the next.
The Marie Drake Planetarium is considering establishing an Adult Lecture Series next season.
One possible "guest lecturer" would be Jim Brooks, the man from Atlin who found the meteorite last year.
We are also looking within out own community for people who would like to present a program at the planetarium on an astronomy related topic. You don't have to be a professional in the field. If you are knowledgeable about a specific subject and interested in presenting a program with us, please give us a call at 463-3563 or e-mail us at MDPlanetarium-Volunteers@egroups.com
No matter the weather, at the Marie Drake Planetarium we guarantee you will see the stars.
... for academy ceremony
As I am a volunteer for Thunder Mountain Academy, the ceremony held at the Governor's Mansion was a delightful surprise.
I wanted to thank our First Lady, Susan Knowles, for taking the time to have this event in her home, The Governors Mansion.
I want to thank Paul and Virginia Berg (Headmaster of Thunder Mountain Academy and his wife) for beginning this wonderful private school where volunteering is a pleasure. The Bergs have taken the initiative in giving our community an excellent education of middle school students. Nor can we forget the others that make this private school so unique. Teachers/instructors: Luige Yannotti, Adrian and Jennifer Berg, Wendy Leisner and Diane Anderson. Volunteers: Jody Schmidt and all the other parents who take the time to volunteer in classes and transportation.
As Paul Berg stated in last evening's ceremony, "Volunteers really validate an organization."
... for helping youth
Thank you to all the people who helped with the 50's Dance fundraiser for 2-year old Tristan Quigley.
For family and friends who say "How can I help." To strangers who say "Here, take this money for Tristan, I hope he is well soon." To business owners/workers who say "We're happy to help out." The words "thank you" seem to fall short of their generosity. But I do say thank you.

For donations of goods I thank: Neil McKinnon at Alaska Laundry and Dry Cleaners, Shirley at downtown McDonalds, Pat Galvin, John Lager and Barb Bradford, Jeff Brown and KTOO-FM.
For monetary donations: Keith Levy, Joe Geldhof, Doug and Nancy Peel, Pat and Alyse Galvin, Barbara Craver, Ben Thomas, Chris and Lisa McDowell, Lisle Hebert and Claire Richardson, Rebecca Mass, Pat Quigley, Ellen Canapary, Shane Quigley, Jen LaRue, Brenda, Tim and Kasha Spengler, Carolyn Hudson, Sheila Dyer and Leo Novoa, Mike and Gail Ford, The Neighborhood Kid Night Families: Campbell's, Meade's, Goldrich's, Minne's, Pigott/Thomas', Shapland/Murray's, Caulfield/Paul's, Whittaker/Steedle, Abisset, Brown/Connerton, Funk's.
