n I observed the House Finance Committee hearings, I saw the alcohol excise tax tabled. For every $1 our state gets from alcohol tax, we spend $21 on alcohol-related crashes. This tax is clearly needed, for our state and for our communities. The overwhelming preponderance of evidence shows that the single-most effective method to reduce crime, child abuse an domestic violence, to increase public safety, and reduce the costs of the criminal justice system agencies is to increase the alcohol excise tax.
