HoopTime, Dzantik'i Heeni win to stay alive

Faifo Levale and Tres Saldivar each scored five points in the fourth quarter as HoopTime of Juneau rallied from seven points behind to eliminate Hoonah from the Gold Medal Basketball Tournament's middle school bracket with a 28-25 victory Wednesday at Juneau-Douglas High School.

HoopTime trailed 23-16 entering the fourth quarter, but outscored Hoonah 12-2 in the period to pull out the victory.

In Wednesday's other losers' bracket game, Dzantik'i Heeni knocked off Angoon 40-20.

HoopTime and Dzantik'i Heeni will play each other at 5 p.m. in another losers' bracket game, while Kake and Metlakatla meet at 4 p.m. in the winners' bracket semifinal.

In HoopTime's victory Wednesday, Levale scored 10 points to lead the team. Daryl Lew added seven points for HoopTime, while Saldivar and Zak Kirkpatrick each scored five.

Steven Montantas scored eight points to lead Hoonah, with Devin Mortiz and David Lindstrom adding six points apiece.

Kevin Lee scored 12 points to lead Dzantik'i Heeni to its victory, with Les Chilton and Pedro Majica adding six points each.

Musa Marenah and Scott Lesh scored six points each to lead Angoon.
