Free computer classes offered

Free evening computer classes for beginners are being offered by JAEC, a program of SERRC, Alaska's resource center.

Introduction to Word 2000 will be held Mondays and Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m. (Lab opens at 4:30). Classes last from April 2 to April 30.

Introduction to PowerPoint 2000 will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5-7 p.m. (Lab opens at 4:30). Classes last from April 1 to April 29.

AWARE to hold volunteer training

The AWARE shelter is offering a Volunteer Advocacy Training starting April 4. This training includes information on domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. The training provides practical experience in crisis intervention and advocacy skills.

Part one of the training is open to the public and offers an overview of topics. It will run April 4, 5 and 6. Part two is for AWARE volunteers and staff and focuses on advocacy skills. No experience is necessary. The training is provided free of charge and will be held at AWARE. If you are interested, please call Cydney Boyer at AWARE, 586-6623.
