Due
to a reporter's error, the story on Jodi Wise in Thursday's Empire incorrectly reported the governance status of the Marshall Islands. The Republic of the Marshall Islands is a former United States Trust Territory. It began self-governance in 1979, and became a sovereign nation in 1986. The U.S. continues to maintain military facilities there.
