To understand the Bible is to fear the Lord

Letter to the editor

Posted: Wednesday, March 28, 2007

I fully concur with Mr. Marlin Bricker's letter stating why the Bible is preeminent in history and literature. It is easy to make the Bible seem laughable and ridiculous by taking portions out of context. But to even begin to understand the Bible, a person must have some fear of the Lord. That fear will motivate that person to obey God. Obedience, in turn, is the key that opens the many dimensions of truth tucked away in seemingly prosaic human words. God is truth and to know him is to love him.
