Metlakatla moves on in B bracket with win over Yakutat

Warriors stay alive in C bracket

Willie Hayward scored a game-high 34 points and Juneau-Douglas High School senior Cameron Cook tallied 21 points to lead Metlakatla past Yakutat 91-62 in a Mighty B bracket elimination game Tuesday.

Metlakatla led 33-27 at the half and pulled away with a 58-point second half.

Bryan Hayward scored 10 points, Rich Hayward had 10 points, and Mike Henderson scored four points in the victory.

Anthony Schimdt led Yakutat with 22 points. Martin Sensmeier had 11 points, while Nate Endicott and Jim Jensen scored 10 points each in defeat.


Southeast Warriors 75, Tlingit-Haida 60

Ron Hansen's 24 points led the Southeast Warriors past Tlingit-Haida Regional Housing Authority in a loser's bracket battle.

Frank Coronell scored 12 points, Stu Mills added 11 points, and Brett Schmeige tallied 10 points in the win.

For Tlingit-Haida, Art Chappell tallied 21 points and Wally Olds scored 15.


Hoonah 75, Angoon 66

Garvin Martin kept Hoonah alive in the Legendary C Bracket with a team-high 20 points against Angoon on Tuesday.

Louie White added 16 points while Lance Geise and Duane Jack scored 10 points each in the win. Showalter Martin chipped in nine points for Hoonah.

Kevin Mitchell led Angoon with 28 points and Edward Kookesh Jr. had 16 points.

Edward Jack Sr. scored five points while Sterling Bolima, Jay Booth and Steve Jack chipped in four points each for Angoon.
