ANCHORAGE - Nearly 7,900 Alaskans have agreed to donate all or part of their Permanent Fund dividend to charity this year through the Pick-Click-Give program.
The Rasmuson Foundation says that compares with 5,100 pledges in the program's first year in 2009.
More than $715,000 has been pledged to non-profits so far and supporters hope this year's total will exceed $1 million.
Lawmakers created Pick-Click-Give in 2008 at the urging of Rasmuson. The foundation spent $900,000 to run it for the first three years.
The Anchorage Daily News reports a measure before the state Legislature would continue the program and establish long-term funding.
