Anchorage assault conviction in 3-strikes case

Posted: Monday, March 29, 2010

ANCHORAGE - Police say a robbery and assault conviction in Anchorage is the first "three strikes" case in the city.

A jury returned a guilty verdict Thursday against Jerry Douglas for a robbery in January 2008 at the Lucky Deli where a customer who chased him was stabbed in the abdomen.

Douglas was indicted under Alaska's Three Strikes Law that requires a 99-year sentence for the third violent felony in a 10-year period.
