Alaska Public Health Fair starts April 6

Alaska Public Health Fair is hosting the Juneau Public Health Fair from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 6, and Saturday, April 7, at Centennial Hall.
Free health screenings and lost-cost blood tests will be offered. Participants are asked to fast for 12 hours prior to the blood test, which means no food or drink except water. Diabetics should not fast, and all prescription medications should be taken.

Widowed Persons Service holds brunch
The AARP Alaska Widowed Persons Service will hold a brunch at noon on Sunday, April 1, at the Breakwater Restaurant.
All widows and widowers are invited to attend.

Discovery Southeast hosts spring gathering
Discovery Southeast is holding its "Wade Into Spring" annual spring gathering from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on April 6 at the Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall.
Support Southeast Alaska's leader in nature education and the Nature Studies Program in the Juneau Schools dinner and auction fundraiser. There will be supervised children's activities, silent auction with children's table, live auction with auctioneer Ron Clark and a salmon and barbecue chicken dinner.
Tickets are available at Hearthside Books, Rainy Day Books, The Observatory Bookstore and the Discovery Southeast Office. Cost is $20 for adults, $5 for children and $45 for a family. For more information, call Jan Carlile at 463-1500.
