Gold Medal roundup: Juneau UAS tops Yakutat to move to Saturday's title game

Juneau UAS moved on to Saturday's final with a 76-47 win over Yakutat in the Juneau Lions Club Gold Medal Tournament Intermediate Bracket elimination game on Thursday.

Juneau players saw a big second half, scoring 44 points compared to Yakutat's 26. Scott Lesh and Ian Schmitz scored 13 points each, while Robert Beierly added 12 points, and Ray Zimmer contributed 11 points in the win.

For Yakutat, Sam Ferguson led all scorers with 15 points. Alin Vale had 11 points, Ben Dunbar chipped in eight points, and Shane Brown scored four points in defeat.

Yakutat will play Angoon on Friday for the right to play in Saturday's title match.


Juneau Delta 91, Hoonah 76

Jim Carson scored 25 points to keep Juneau Delta alive in the Legendary C Bracket.

Al Tagaban added 19 points, Sean Joslyn scored 17 points, and Doug Drazkowski tallied nine points in the win.

Hoonah's Garvin Martin and Showalter Martin combined for 47 points in defeat.



Kake 91, Metlakatla 72

Kake's Rudy Bean blew up for 46 points to help keep his team in the Legendary C Bracket.

Lloyd Davis scored 17 points, Wayne Friday had 10 points and Kip Howard added nine points for Kake. Nick Davis tallied eight points and Jay Peterson also hit a free throw in the win.

Gilbert Booth Jr. scored 17 points while Paul Bryant and Trevan Walker contributed 15 points each for Metlakatla. Marty Martinez added six points, Steve Booth hit a 3-pointer while Frank Guthrie and Stan Patterson chipped in two points each in defeat.
