ANCHORAGE - A skiff belonging to a missing Cordova couple has been found on a mud flat, Alaska State Troopers said.

The skiff belonging to Melody Kassahn, 53, and Norman Kassahn, 63, was found Thursday in Hartney Bay on a mud flat about a half mile from shore. The skiff had rolled.

The couple last contacted relatives about three weeks ago.

Family members went by boat to the Kassahns' home Thursday and spotted the skiff. Troopers searched the home and found a cat and dog in need of food.

Spokeswoman Megan Peters said officers saw no sign the Kassahns had been home recently.

A search was planned.
