...for ski event

March 11 and 12 forty-six third, fourth and fifth graders who had never skied before were treated to the 20th Annual Learn to Ski Weekend at Eaglecrest. Thank you Mendenhall Auto Subaru, Steve Allwine and Karla Tollefson for sponsoring this exciting event. Your sponsorship provides bus transportation, rental equipment, lift tickets, lunch and apres ski snacks, ski instruction and supervised exploration on Platter and Hooter slopes for the kids. They all learned to turn and discovered the fun of participating in an outdoor winter activity.

Special thanks goes to Chris Burns at KINY for inviting us to announce the names of those selected to participate on ``Capital Chat.'' The assistance of the office staffs and 3rd, 4th and 5th grade teachers at Gastineau, Harborview, Mendenhall River, Auke Bay, River Bend and the charter schools who distributed informational flyers and registration form is greatly appreciated.

All the departments and employees at Eaglecrest helped make the weekend a success. It would not have happened without the bus drivers, groomers, lift attendants, kitchen staff, rental shop crew, Pauline in the downtown office, Pro Patrol and the Eaglecrest Ski and Snowboard School. Thank you all for making the kid's weekend safe and fun.

...for compassion

On behalf of my client, I wish to express our most sincere gratitude for the generosity and kindness of the Baranof hotel and staff during her time of great need. Not only your donation of a room for this past weekend, but the compassion and very real concern for a member of our community is reaffirming of the nature of Juneau's citizens. May we all honor your fine example - thank-you.

Juneau Care Coordination

...for field trip

The Auke Bay Co-Op Preschool would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Bullwinkles Pizza in the Mendenhall Mall for making us feel so welcome at our recent visit. The school's field trip was a huge success amongst the kids and the parents. Our preschoolers loved seeing the inner workings of one of Juneau's most popular restaurants. We especially thank Michael Clements for taking the time out of his busy schedule to ensure that every one of our preschool students felt special.
