Organization description: SAIL Inc., is a private nonprofit organization that provides consumer directed independent living services to people with disabilities throughout Southeast Alaska. ORCA is dedicated to offering skill-building sports and recreational opportunities that address the needs and wants of our consumers. These recreational experiences build self-esteem, motivation, confidence and strength.

Volunteer positions available: Volunteers are needed to take inventory on wheelchairs and other assistive devices that are loaned to public; number and identify the inventory of wheelchairs and walkers, including a database for easy loan process; list and update community agency brochures in the SAIL office; assist with outdoor trips, from high adventure multi-day (kayaking and hiking) to single-day; assist with community inclusion - attending events such as the Folk Festival or theater; and teach skills in arts and crafts, yoga, martial arts and cooking. A librarian trained in library skills is needed. Flexible positions available. Must be 18 years or older. No background checks or prerequisites.

In-kind/material donations needed: Items needed are wheelchairs in working condition, preferably with footrests; and outdoor recreational gear in good condition, such as backpacks, tents, sleeping pads/bags, skis, snowboards, boots, kayak gear, etc.
