JUNEAU - A dog was killed in a trap Wednesday while being walked on the Eagle River Trail in Juneau.
The dog - named Bubba - was part of a Doggie Day Care outing and was in the care of the Gastineau Humane Society.
Executive Director Chava Lee said two of the dogs, including Bubba, went missing initially during a game of fetch. One came back when called, but Bubba didn't respond.
The dog was found the next day right off the trail in a conibear trap.
The Bureau of Wildlife Enforcement of the Alaska State Troopers and a Wildlife biologist for State Fish and Game were summoned to the scene. They determined the area was legal for trapping.
