ANCHORAGE - The state Department of Transportation said an avalanche hit Alaska Railroad tracks along the Seward Highway at Mile 85.
Spokesman Roger Wetherell said snow from the slide Tuesday morning did not hit the highway but drivers still faced delays.
Wetherell said a crew operating heavy equipment to clear tracks was using the highway for access.
The department said the road is open but travelers could expect delays of 15 to 20 minutes.
