The Juneau Community Charter School will hold its biggest fund-raiser of the year on April 9 at ANB Hall.
The Spring for the Arts Gala will be a cabaret and dance. Doors will open and homemade food will be sold starting at 5:30 p.m. There will be a silent auction of donated art work as well.
The cabaret performances begin at 6 p.m. They include Native storyteller Ishmael Hope, jazz singer Julie Rehfeld, the school's students and the Latin dance group Salsa Con Lluvia.
At 7:30 p.m. attendees can dance to the "swing boogie" music of the Bobb Family Band.
Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for children. Tickets are available at bookstores and at the door. Food will be sold separately.
This is the fifth year for the gala, teacher Linda Torgerson said. Until last year, when Juneau-Douglas High School was being renovated, it was held at the high school auditorium. The venue at ANB Hall allows the charter school to make the gala more of a dining and dancing experience.
