Country singer Knapp returns to the Sandbar

Posted: Thursday, April 01, 2004

Country singer Kenny Knapp has returned to the Sandbar, 2525 Industrial Boulevard, and will play from 9 p.m. to close Wednesdays through Sundays through May 30.

Knapp, a one-man band who sings and plays guitar, harmonica, fiddle and banjo to the accompaniment of music he's recorded on mini-disc, spends springs and falls in Juneau. He arrived in town March 28 from Steamboat Springs, Colo., where he co-owns a sleigh-ride business.

"It's good to be back," Knapp said.

"I've got some new material. I brought my banjo up this time. I was bringing it up before, but the air freight was getting expensive. This time I decided to kind of add a little twist. It adds a bluegrass kind of feel."

Knapp can perform roughly 500 different songs. He still has copies of his latest CD, "Burning Love."
