Spring is around the corner and summer will soon be here. It's time to think about flower baskets to beautify our city. I am writing in behalf of Friends of the Flowers to request your support in continuing to provide color in Juneau. Our city has a wonderful historical significance, and when graced by the beauty of flowers Juneau becomes a gracious hostess to residents and visitors alike. Our landscape division has not only provided flowers which adorn downtown Juneau, but they have extended their efforts to the ferry terminal. These flowers welcome visitors from many parts of the globe, but also to our many neighbors from other parts of Alaska.
We would like to maintain this ambiance and the Friends of the Flowers is requesting your help. The Landscape Division of our Parks and Recreation Department designs, cultivates and maintains the downtown flower baskets during the summer months. Each basket incurs a cost of $50 to plant and maintain for an entire season. I encourage the citizens, organizations and businesses of Juneau to participate in this effort. Whatever amount deemed appropriate by individuals or groups would be appreciated by the Friends.
Please make your contribution by check, payable to Juneau Parks and Recreation Department, 155 South Seward Street, Juneau, AK, 99801. Or drop it by the Parks and Recreation office located on the second floor of City Hall.
Thank you for your help. I'm proud of our colorful capital city and I'm grateful for your financial support in keeping in beautiful.
