Juneau resident Dan Ernie Hanes died March 24, 2007. He was 69.

He was born June 20, 1937, and lived in Juneau for 65 years. He was a taxi driver and clerk.

He graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1957 and joined the Air Force that same year. He served in the Air Force as a clerk typist until 1959, when he was honorably discharged.

He was a longtime member of the Elks.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth E. Terry.

He is survived by his sisters, Diana Markovich and Yvonne Bowthorpe; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews.

Services were held on March 16, 2007. Spring graveside services will be posted at a later date.

The family asks that donations be made to the local cancer funds.
