WASILLA - An 11-year-old boy was cold and wet but OK after his snowmachine got stuck during a Boy Scout outing near Denali State Park over the weekend.
Fifth-grader Nicholas Ensign, new to scouting, was riding Saturday when he found himself lost, alone and lacking shelter for the night.
He started walking down a packed snowmobile trail, shouting for help every 15 minutes. He resisted going to sleep.
A major search effort was launched Saturday night. The boy was rescued Sunday morning.
Scouting officials said they will use the incident to make sure scout leaders follow the guide to safe scouting.
