A preliminary hearing in the case of Jason Abbott, an 18-year-old accused of stabbing his grandparents, his aunt and her boyfriend to death, was scheduled for Friday in Sitka.
Abbott, also charged with trying to kill another aunt during an alleged rampage last week, was transferred Saturday to the Anchorage Correctional Complex.
A Sitka Court judge had previously indicated that Abbott would be housed at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
Abbott's bail was set at $1 million.
Department of Corrections spokesman Richard Schmitz said he could not disclose why Abbott had been transferred to Anchorage.
He said suspects may be transferred there for a number of reasons, including to undergo more thorough mental health screenings.
Two days prior to the stabbings, Abbott was arrested on a charge of assaulting his mother. Court records indicated he told his mother he thought the colors orange and red were evil.
Acquaintances of Abbott said he had shaved his hair and eyebrows a few days prior to that arrest to rid himself of sin.
