Anchorage drug arrests rise

Posted: Friday, April 02, 2010

ANCHORAGE - Drug arrests are up in Anchorage and police say it's because of a greater focus on street-level dealers.

Police arrested 675 people on drug charges between September and February - almost doubling the number from the same period three years earlier.

Police say the shift to street-level drugs means its investigators are not duplicating work done by the Drug Enforcement Administration, which goes after major traffickers.
