Hull to head Employment Security: Ron Hull has been appointed director of the state's Employment Security Division.

He succeeds Rebecca Nance Gamez, who was promoted to deputy commissioner of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Hull moves up after serving as the division's deputy director for the past three years. In that capacity, he supervised the agency's veterans' affairs, unemployment insurance, job training, employment and adult basic education programs.

City hires tourism director: Maria Gladziszewski has been hired by the city as director of the Office of Tourism.

Gladziszewski, who serves on the Juneau Planning Commission, has worked at Glacier Bay Lodge and as a park ranger for the National Park Service, where she was a naturalist on cruise ships visiting Glacier Bay.

For the last 12 years, she has worked as a legislative analyst for the Legislature. She began her job Monday.

Hickok joins USKH: Wendy Hickok, a CAD technician, has joined the Juneau office of USKH, an Alaska architectural, land surveying, planning, and multidisciplinary engineering firm. She has more than four years of experience working in Southeast Alaska and Texas.
