She was born July 1, 1955, in Juneau. She grew up in Juneau and also lived in Hoonah and Seattle.
She was the child of the Chookandeidee Clan and a granddaughter of the L'uknaxadi.
She attended Hoonah public school, Juneau-Douglas High School and Anchorage High School.
She worked in Juneau as a postal clerk and as line crew in Hoonah Cold Storage.
On Nov. 11, 2006, she married her soulmate and caregiver, William Horton Jr.
She is preceded in death by her father, Samuel Knudson Sr.; grandparents, George and Eva Davis and Harry and Amy Marvin of Hoonah; parents, Samuel Knudson Jr. and Hazel Willard; sisters, Laverne Escalante of Seattle, Eva Villa of Seattle, and Lydia Mamahit of Juneau; brother, Harold Knudson of Hoonah; son, Johnny Mazon; niece, Carmeena Mamahit; and uncle, James Knudson.
She is survived by her husband, William Horton Jr. of Hoonah; adopted mother, Hazel Hope of Juneau; stepfather, Kenneth Willard Sr. and his wife, Donna, of Hoonah; daughters, Julie Mazon of Seattle, Frances Goenett and her husband, George, of Seattle, Hazel Mazon of Juneau, and Lydia Mazon of Juneau; sisters, Mary Felipe and her husband, Knute, of Juneau, Renee McLean and her husband, Quinn, of Juneau, and Celeste Garcia of Juneau; brothers, Wilbur Knudson of Juneau, Kenneth Willard Jr. of Arizona, Paul Joseph of Seattle, and Elton Willard of Juneau; uncles, Ralph Knudson Sr. and his wife, Harriet, of Juneau; Mike Knudson Sr. and his wife, Jenive, of Hoonah; aunts, Mary Rudolph and her husband, Paul, of Anchorage, and Beatrice Knudson of Juneau; and numerous other relatives.
Services were held at Northern Lights Church. Active pallbearers were Wilbur "Jumbo" James, Thomas James, Nathan See, Knute Felipe and Darren Wigg. Honorary pallbearers were Ellis Escalante, Sam Villa, Thomas Cornell and Wilbur Knudson.
