"Eyes Wide Open: The Cost of War to Alaska," a war casualties exhibition, will be on display from April 7 to 9 at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center, located at 350 Whittier St. A "simple" opening ceremony is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 7.
The American Friends Service Committee is sponsoring the event in cooperation with the local Juneau People for Peace and Justice, Veterans for Peace Chapter 100, Juneau Friends Meeting (Quakers), Juneau Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship, the Juneau Buddhist Peace Fellowship and the Northern Light United Church.
The exhibit includes 108 pairs of boots representing fallen soldiers from Alaska and Alaska bases, and a visual representation of the Iraqi civilian casualties. The exhibit is part of the American Friends Service Committee's national "Eyes Wide Open" network.
The exhibit will be on display from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, April 7; from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8; and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9.
