Juneau Symphony to play two shows April 5 and 6

The Juneau Symphony will play two shows of its spring concert with guest conductor Brian Stone this weekend at the Juneau-Douglas High School auditorium. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 6.

Principal cellist Jared Carlson pays tribute to Russia's "greatest 20th century composer" in Dmitri Shostakovich's "Cello Concerto No. 1." The symphony will also perform Ludwig van Beethoven's "Symphony No. 2," and Giuseppe Verdi's patriotic opera "I Vespri Siciliani Overture."

Advanced tickets are available at Hearthside Books and www.juneausymphony.org. They cost $20 for general admission; $15 for students and seniors; and $12 for children (matinee only). Tickets at the door cost $22 for general admission; $17 for students and seniors; and $12 for children.
