ANCHORAGE - The Alaska Railroad Corp. released its annual report on Thursday.
The report said the state-owned railroad corporation made $16.3 million in earnings on total revenues of $169.3 million.
John Binkley, chairman of the railroad board, said it was another banner year.
Ridership was at an all-time high, with three of the summer service trains showing more than an 8 percent increase, according to the report.
The railroad's real estate department also announced that its assets grew a robust 17 percent.
Revenue generated by the railroad covers all its operating costs.
