JUNEAU - In its annual "Good Turn" event known as the Scouting for Food Campaign, local Boy Scouts will go door-to-door from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, around Juneau, collecting nonperishable and canned food items for the Southeast Alaska Foodbank.
This week, Scouts will distribute grocery bags with fliers describing Scouting for Food to homes around the city. Those wanting to contribute should fill the bags and leave them on their doorstep for pickup between 10 a.m. and noon on Saturday.
Scouts from all over Juneau collected more than 6,000 pounds of food in last year's effort and hope to collect more this year. Last year, the Juneau food bank distributed more than 85 tons of food. If the Scouts are not able to get to your neighborhood, contributions may be dropped off before 2 p.m. Saturday or any weekday morning at the food bank at: 10020 Crazy Horse Drive, just past Don Abel. For more information, call the food bank at 789-6184.
