FAIRBANKS - The Fairbanks-based member of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals says he will take senior status in June.

Judge Andrew J. Kleinfeld announced Thursday that he will make the change on June 12, his 65th birthday.

Senior status is an alternative to retirement. Judges maintain an office and staff and handle at least 25 percent of an active judge's caseload.
