Having ninth and 10th grades at one high school and 11th and 12th grades at the other would let Juneau's youth share the same experiences and opportunities, and would avoid splitting the town.

As someone entering ninth grade this fall, I disagree with the Empire's editorial that dismissed this option with little thought.
I have friends that live all over town, and I look forward to sharing my high school years with them and with all my Juneau peers. I don't believe people our age should have to pick a career track or focus, and thus not get to explore a wide range of subjects.
