Thank you for posting Glenn Gray's letter (March 27 Juneau Empire). I believe that it is the right of every citizen to have equal opportunity to health insurance. Choosing to refuse people the access to this coverage based on lifestyle is wrong. Same-sex partners should be allowed to cover each other with health insurance.
Sound off on the important issues at
Heterosexual couples have the right in Alaska to say a few words before a judge or in a church. Gay couples have not been given that right. Gay couples should not have less access to health care, because society is the force that has prevented them from getting married in the first place. I know couples who would get married if it was legal for them to openly make a ceremonial commitment to each other. Will we continue to say, "You cannot get married," then withhold health care benefits from them because they are not?
