Balanced coverage

I just have to respond to Wayne Ward's letter in Friday's paper. Let us see what he is implying. The press, in his view, is controlled by the Bush administration - vast right-wing conspiracy I guess.

The reality is the current conflict in Iraq is the big story and the biggest concern. Something like a local flower show would not be a page-one story on the day of a natural disaster. Local news or the latest riveting Assembly meeting decision on anything should be placed at the bottom of the front page or deeper.

I have not seen any credible evidence to suggest that the Empire is anyone's tool. No blatant doves, no "Nattering nabobs of negativism," just balanced in what should be a lead story.
