ANCHORAGE - Anchorage police say the man killed in a hit and run a week ago apparently tried to hang onto a pickup during a drug sale gone wrong.
Tyler Meyer, 29, died March 29.
The pickup driver, Nathanael Albright, 23, was charged Friday with manslaughter.
Meyer tried to buy crack cocaine from a woman and agreed to meet her in west Anchorage, police said. Meyer handed her $50 through the passenger side window and she handed him back an empty napkin and ordered Albright to drive off, police said.
Meyer owed the woman money from a previous drug deal, prosecutors said.
When Meyer grabbed the side of the truck, Albright tried to shake him off by swerving.
He told police he didn't realize he struck and dragged Meyer, officials said.
