ANCHORAGE - The body of a 35-year-old Anchorage man missing in an avalanche at Johnson Pass has been recovered.

Alaska State Troopers say the body of Yancy Flair was found at about 3 p.m. Saturday. Flair's body was released to his family and searchers cleared the area by 7 p.m.

Flair was driving a snowmobile March 28 and was buried by the avalanche.

Initial search efforts were hampered by ash that blew in from Mount Redoubt.

Johnson Pass is on the Kenai Peninsula. Trailheads for Johnson Pass are at Mile 32.5 and Mile 64 Seward Highway.
