HOMER - A Kenai grand jury has indicted a Homer man on a manslaughter charge connected to the death of a man who died of a heroin overdose.
Thayr Watson, 24, was arrested and also charged with two felony drug charges.
The indictment was handed down March 27.
Watson was charged in the Aug. 23 death of Jason Edward McCafferty, 28, in a Soldotna grocery store bathroom.
According to the indictment, Watson manufactured or delivered a controlled substance that McCafferty ingested.
McCafferty's death was ruled an overdose and Soldotna police began investigating.
Soldotna Police Chief John Lucking said Watson was tied to the death through surveillance tapes, cell phone records and personal records.
Watson entered a not-guilty plea on all charges through his public defender. He's being held at Wildwood Pretrial Facility with bail set at $50,000.
Watson was raised in Homer.
