I am writing in response to the U.S. Senate vote on drilling for oil in your beautiful state.
I agree with Senate Democrats, who argue that this measure needs to be discussed and voted on in a forum separate from the annual debate over a budget resolution.
I know that many Alaskans cherish the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and agree that the U.S. government should protect this pristine land that is home to dozens of rare species of mammals, fish and birds.
I, too, feel that the need for oil and this short-term drilling solution should not outweigh the presentation of such a precious ecosystem.
I urge Alaskans to take a stand and voice their opinions to protect your national treasure.
