Juneau Ski Club end-of-season awards party - The Juneau Ski Club will hand out its end-of-season awards and hold a BBQ party on Saturday, April 9, starting around 5 p.m. at Eaglecrest Ski Area. Juneau Soccer Club competitive team tryouts - The Juneau Soccer Club has scheduled competitive team tryouts to be held at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. The schedule is: Saturday, April 16: 4:30-6 p.m. - U12 girls, U13 girls; 6-7:30 p.m. - U14 girls; 7:30-9 p.m. - U12 boys, U14 boys. Sunday, April 17: 9:30-11 a.m. - U15 girls; 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. - U15 boys; 12:30-2 p.m. - U13 boys. Tryouts for U16 teams are TBA. For U16 girls info, contact Tom Rutecki at 780-6176. Spaghetti feed and fund-raiser for Coach Reilly Richey's family - The Juneau Youth Football League and friends are hosting a spaghetti feed and fund-raiser on Friday, April 8, for the family of Juneau-Douglas High School football coach Reilly Richey, who died March 7 of liver disease. The money raised will be used to offset medical costs. The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the JDHS Commons; the cost is $5/person or $20/family, and tickets can be purchased from JDHS football players and JYFL board members. There will also be a raffle for three prizes - $1,000 cash; two tickets anywhere Wings of Alaska flies; and two round-trip tickets to Taku Lodge on Wings of Alaska - as well as a silent auction and dessert auction. Students from Harborview School will sing, the JDHS Dance Team will perform and the evening will conclude with Richey's induction into the JDHS Football Hall of Fame. Juneau-Douglas High School soccer - The Juneau-Douglas High School girls soccer team hosts Colony for varsity games at 7:30 p.m. each night at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. The JDHS boys junior varsity team will play Ketchikan at 5:45 p.m. each night.

Juneau-Douglas High School Dance Team community show - The JDHS Dance Team will host its annual community show on two nights this year - Thursday, April 14, and Friday, April 15 - from 7-9:15 p.m. in the JDHS main gym. Doors open at 6 p.m.; arrive early for the best seating. Tickets are $10 in advance from Hearthside Books, at the JDHS Activities Office or from Dance Team members. If available, tickets will be sold at the door for $12. The show will feature this season's dance routines, and guest performances by the Dads' Drill Team, the Janice Holst Dancers and other groups. 4-H Running Club registration - 4-H Running Club registration for youths in grades 2-8 will take place on Thursday, April 7, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Cooperative Extension office, 3032 Vintage Blvd. Suite 104 (across from Safeway). Running schedules will be available at the sign-up. There will be elementary and middle-school running clubs this season; they'll meet at the same place each week but run separately. Juneau-Douglas High School Dance Team annual dance clinic - The JDHS Dance Team will host its annual dance clinic on Saturday, April 9, at the high school. Students in grades K-3 register at 7:45 a.m., and their clinic session ends with a show for parents from 11-11:30 a.m. Students in grades 4-12 register at 11:45 a.m., and their session ends with a show for parents from 4-4:30 p.m. Participants will learn a hip-hop routine, and will receive a clinic T-shirt and certificate. Juneau Archery Club youth shooting - Archery shooting is held on Friday nights, with sessions at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Space is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Juneau Community Schools open gyms - Basketball, volleyball and soccer open gyms for adults are available several times a week. Basketball and volleyball open gyms are held Fridays and Sundays from 7-9 p.m. at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. Soccer open gyms are held Sundays from 6:45-8:45 p.m. at Floyd Dryden Middle School.
