JDHS Dance Clinic - The Juneau-Douglas High School dance team will host their annual dance clinic on Saturday, April 8, at JDHS. The cost is $35 and registration is available at JDHS on the day of the clinic only. The first session is for grades K-3, registration at 7:45 a.m. and parent shot at 11:30 a.m. The second session is for grades 4-12, registration at 11:45 a.m. and parent show at 4:30 p.m. All participants will learn a fun hip-hop routine and will receive a clinic t-shirt and certificate. JDHS Dance Team Showtime - The Juneau-Douglas High School dance team will host thier annualy community show on two nights at the JDHS gym. The show will feature this season's dance routines and will include special guest performances by the famous Dad's Drill Team, as well as many other performers. Both shows start at 7 p.m. and doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door, if available. UAS/HoopTime/Fast Break Club Coaching Clinic - The University of Alaska Southeast, HoopTime and the Fast Break Club are presenting a middle school and high school coaching clinic featuring Gonzaga University's Jerry Krause from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the UAS Student Recreation Center in the Charles Gamble Jr.-Donald Sperl Joint Use Facility. Juneau Skating Club recital - The Juneau Skating Club will hold "A Sunday Matinee" at 3 p.m. at Treadwell Arena. The season-ending recital will feature Juneau's youth figure skaters. All students are invited to participate. There are 17 numbers planned, inlcuing solos from skaters and those who won medals in the JSC's first skating competition. Juneau Youth Football League volunteers needed - The Juneau Youth Football League is looking for volunteers to fill coaching and board vacancies. Learn to ice skate - The Juneau Skating Club will be holding group skating lessons for all levels and ages starting this weekend. Coed Classic Soccer League - The Coed Classic Soccer League is designed for soccer players ages 30 and older who wish to continue their glory days of playing in an exclusively non-competitive but fun and enjoyable environment. Community Schools Open Adult Gym time - There will be open adult gym at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School for soccer on Fridays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. For basketball and volleyball, there will be open gym time on Sundays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. There is a $5 fee and players should bring their own soccer balls, basketballs or volleyballs. Mount Jumbo preschool open gym - Preschool open gyms for children ages 1-6 and an adult parent or caregiver takes place from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays through April 28. There must be at least one adult present for every four kids. There is a $1 per child fee or punchcards for $10 or $50 can be bought at the gym, which is located at 909 4th St. in Douglas. Evening masters swimming program - The Augustus Brown pool hosts a twice-weekly evening masters swimming program. The program will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is designed to promote and improve the physical and mental well-being of adults age 19-older. Basketball/volleyball court rentals available - The Juneau Community Schools program has basketball/volleyball court rental times available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday and Saturday hikes - For updates on locations of Wednesday and Saturday group hikes, call the Juneau Parks and Recreation Hikes Hotline. Always remember to bring plenty of food and water, wear warm layers of clothing and proper footwear for the hike. No dogs or firearms are allowed. Wednesday hikes are limited to hikers 18 years of age or older. Saturday hikes are open to families, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
