I am writing in support of Sen. Mark Begich. I am encouraged by the job that the former Anchorage mayor is doing and believe he was and is clearly the better candidate to represent our state.
Begich has worked across party lines to bring support to Alaska and will continue to do so. He did nothing wrong in getting elected. There is no legal precedent for his removal from office. Further, I can not believe that taxpayers of Alaska want to waste the huge amount of money it would take to hold a special election.
The Republican Party, Randy Reudrich and Gov. Sarah Palin need to clean their own houses before casting a cloud of doubt on someone who is obviously doing his job, and doing it very well. If former Sen. Ted Stevens wants to run for elected office, he has now been legally cleared to do just that. I thank Begich for doing the job he was fairly elected to do and hope he will continue doing it for many years to come.
