ANCHORAGE - Polls are open for municipal voting in Anchorage, but without a mayor's race, turnout may be down.
City elections officials say more than 2,800 people voted early last year when Mayor Dan Sullivan was seeking his first term.
KTUU-TV reports that this year, with bond propositions and assembly and school boards seats on the ballot, not even half that number voted early.
In 2009, more than 3,300 Anchorage voters requested ballots by mail. This year, just more than 2,400 did.
Bonds under consideration could buy an ambulance for the Sand Lake area and provide money for two new fire engines. Other bonds would provide money for bus stop, road and drainage system improvements.
